UP Craftsmen Statement | Our New Path
Our New Company UP Craftsmen
As many of you know, UP Healing, Wellness and Adventure in Silver Spring, MD was lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We loved our yoga studio and our community we built over the years in downtown Silver Spring, MD. After much research into our new direction as a company, we have decided to try and help address the housing shortage and “Missing Middle” in Montgomery County by building quality Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) at an affordable price. One of the most common forms of Missing Middle housing that already exists in Montgomery County are accessory dwelling units (ADUs). We are starting small with individual ADU builds, bathroom/kitchen remodels and house additions as we first grow our business. We hope to master the ADU building process and eventually have this as a cost effective way for first time homeowners to own a piece of real estate and build generational wealth.
In January of this year, I became a fully licensed Maryland State Contractor (MHIC# 151386) and became insured through Berkshire Hathaway. We have been fortunate enough to partner with an amazing team that includes Eric Saul from Saul Architects and Ben Norkin from Ben Norkin Architecture to handle a smooth process with ADUs in Montgomery County. Our head of construction operations is Mike Grossman. In his 25-year career, Mike has proven himself to be a talented craftsman, carpenter, and home builder, combining creative and technical skills to design projects that reflect the client’s needs, vision, and budget. Mike has previously held supervisory positions at James G. Davis Construction, where he was the liaison between owners, architects, designers, engineers, project managers and builders.

Onward and upward,
